Offering online and in-person sessions.
I am a highly skilled and experienced educator with a Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and a Bachelor's degree in Intercultural Studies. I have worked in educational settings for over a decade and have taught in alternative/non-traditional settings for over fifteen (15) years. In addition to teaching English at several colleges in Washington State, I have also taught at Tacoma Public School District and Issaquah School District. I am very familiar with Washington's Common Core Standards which detail what skills and abilities are expected at each grade level. As well, I have prepared many students for standardized tests (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFLjr., SSAT, SAT, and ACT), in addition to more generalized reading, writing, grammar, listening/speaking, and homework help. I have also helped many students with their college entrance essays. My students are diverse and come from many different backgrounds and experiences. I have worked with students from the level of preschool/kindergarten through college, and cared for infants through elderly clients. I have taught speakers of English as a second language from beginner level through advanced. Whatever your need, I am the instructor for you!
I teach international students struggling to learn English and learning how to transition into American classrooms. I have also worked with students who struggle with learning difficulties and/or have special needs. I am absolutely discreet with such information and keep these details in complete anonymity. In summary, I have worked with many students who require special accommodations and/or adaptations to their learning process and I am highly skilled and creative in doing so.
I provide everything the student will need, an online classroom where materials and assignments can be easily located in one, convenient place. I will create an initial assessment, to determine which skills/abilities are lacking or need improvement, and taking into consideration any timeline requirements, I create an individualized, specialized study plan to take the student from where they are to where they need to be.
The needs and health of my students are most important. Are you nervous, embarrassed, or just shy to learn in a public setting? I can come to your home instead. Additionally, I have taught online for years and I am highly experienced creating engaging lessons and activities in an online forum. I understand learning can be a scary thing, so I am flexible and can adapt location and/or time to your needs. Whatever your concern, I have a solution for you.
